Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of boats do you have?
We have a range of boats to choose from. You can see the kinds of boats we have on this website, although we occasionally have access to other small boats. Call us with your requirements and we'll discuss ways we can outfit your party's boating needs.
How do I make a reservation?
We like to talk to each of our customers to make sure that we can
realistically meet your needs. Give us a call, and we'll talk about
your goals and talk about rental fees. We do ask for a 50% / $500
deposit (whichever is less) to secure your reservation.
Rental rates depend on the boat and how long you will be using it. Longer usages result in lower per day prices. Each day you are in the boat, price drops by 10%. Deposit is 50% of rental fee or $500 whichever is less.
What equipment comes with the boat?
We provide the most important items you will
need. That includes an onboard GPS / fish finder, VHF marine
radio, EPIRB, and all US Coast Guard required safety equipment.
You will also have laminated hard copy charts, a big net, gas,
harpoon, ice chest, and shore dingy in your rental boat.
Is fuel included with the boat rental?
We provide our boats with full tanks. All you need to do is fill the tanks at the end of your rental period.
What safety equipment do you provide?
We provide all Coast Guard required safety gear
including floatation and signaling devices. In some boats, we
provide extra propellers, manuals, tools, and spare parts as
appropriate.
Do you have optional gear available
to rent?
We do have some rods and reels that you may rent.
Should we bring our own marine
charts?
We have laminated charts. You may want to bring
some of your own navigational aids, but we will provide the basics
of what you need to find your way in Prince William Sound.
What's the range of your
boats?
Range is a product of several factors, including skipper's skill, load, weather and gas you can carry. You must remain within 50 miles of shore. We want to talk to you on the telephone to find out about you and your party. We want to pick a boat that effectively meets your party's goals. We'll put together a float plan with you to make sure that this is mutually workable. At that point, we'll be ready to take a deposit.
Do we need to bring a marine
radio?
Each boat is equipped with a marine radio. If you will be making shore expeditions, you may want to bring your own handheld unit(s).
What's the travel time from
Anchorage to Whittier?
Allow an hour to get to the tunnel portal. During the summer, you can transit the tunnel once hourly starting in early morning and ending in late evening. The State of Alaska publishes a complete schedule on its website. Once you are through the tunnel, you are in Whittier.
